The DMC linen embroidery thread is available here in Oz - I bought some a couple of months ago at our little craft shop here in Cooma, well away from the bright city lights.
It is six stranded, like embroidery thread. I divided it into individual strands, and made two bookmarks from it, each in two colours. It worked up well, but you have to be careful not to give too strong a Torchon Tug to it, as it will break. I had two breaks in my two bookmarks, but I just overlapped the thread and kept on working, and you can't see where it happened. I measured it myself as 25 wraps per cm and added it to my copy of Brenda's Threads for Lace book - that's about equivalent to a 60 crochet cotton, or Fresia 60/2 or say a Finca 30. Brenda, have you been able to get your hands on some? If so, do you have a "proper" wpc for it yet?
