When doing different colors, you have no choice but to rewind each time.

However -- when doing multiples of the same thread, this method is worth repeating. Wind one bobbin full. Then, for each item, wind off to a second bobbin just enough thread to do the project. When the bobbins are cut off, you have only one to 'empty', while all the thread on the other is still good. Wind off just enough for the next project, and keep going. You only have to wind half the bobbins for the repeat projects, until you use up all the thread on the first bobbin.

A variation -- when using very small pieces of thread, like gimp circles. When the bobbins are cut off, tie the two threads together and wind the knot down just far enough to be below the working threads. Use again, cut off. Tie again, wnd down a bit, and use again. This way, you don't even lose all the leash each time. You just use the little bit that actually goes in the lace and a little bit of leash.

Happy lacing,
