Hi Barb and everyone What you say here is most helpful, thankyou!:
I was first introduced to > it in 1950, when there was a bit of revival, due to an article in Woman's > Day magazine ...the same series that introduced a lot of people to bobbin My mats could well be a product of that era. I could have googled first without asking at arachne-lace, but it is more fun to ask first <vbg> I did take your advice to search, found this description of Irish crochet: "Motifs are crocheted separately and then later added to a mesh background which can be very fine" and I do have a length of edging that was made in this way. The trefoils and other elements look sculptured. The two doilies with raised rosettes, and the palm leaf shapes, are made continuously. -- bye for now Bev off to continue some crochet research in Sooke BC (on Vancouver Island, west coast of Canada) Cdn. floral bobbins www.woodhavenbobbins.com - To unsubscribe send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] containing the line: unsubscribe lace [EMAIL PROTECTED] For help, write to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
