Dear Arachne friends, What a shock when I read Tamara's post about Jean Barrett. What a loss we all feel at the passing of such a great lacefriend, lacemaker and designer. I met Jean quite a few years ago when I was visiting York. We spent a day together and exchange gifts. As I used to live in Cleveland, England before moving to the U.S. she said I should be considered an honorary member of the Cleveland lace guild. We have exchanged lace christmas cards over the years and I also have momentoes of the guild including the magnet and anniversary bobbin of the guild. This Christmas I sent her a pack of our lace cards as a gift as I did not get around to designing my own card for friends. I did not hear from her and did not like to ask if she received it. One never knows if the recipient actually got a gift when sent overseas and I never got around to emailing her. I shall treasure the patterns and gifts she has sent me and will miss her sage advice and friendship. Janice
