numbers the threads 1 to 4;
"The Technique of Torchon Lace" 1979, this
is repeated on page 24.
Alexandra Stillwell in"Illustrated Dictionary of Lacemaking", 1996 page
55-56 also uses numbers.
I think most lacemakers will agree that the 'C,T' terms came into use
during the '90's.
Certainly one uses whichever of the above suits each particular student
at the beginning of their ventures into lacemaking.
Also the terms etc are very different in many of the parts of the
country i.e. on the Essex/Herts border we talk of cloth st. and
twist(CTCT), in parts of Kent they say double half st. The more we
delve into all this the more confusing it becomes, as someone earlier
said use the one that suits you best.
