Gentle Spiders,
Mine came today, no joke (despite the date). Excellent timing, since I
just finished reading the Canadian Lace Gazette this morning (reading
lace-related publications before breakfast is my equivalent of a "cup
of cofee to get me going before I brave the world at large"), and am
now looking forward to tomorrow.
I haven't _read_ anything as yet, but, flipping through, noticed
several pages devoted to "Patchwork Lace" (also known as "Normandy
Lace"), which I'm glad to see; not my cup o'T precisely, since I'm not
overfond of needles as lace tools, but interesting.
And Devon Thein has an article, as usual, but has taken a break from
scouring museums, and writes about her experiences and experiments in
Wire Lace instead. Which is fine with me -- Devon's sense of humour is
delightful no matter what subject she picks, and I'm looking forward
_greatly_ to reading that article, which, I hope, will be full of
trials and tribulations gently ridiculed.
But, the greatest and most immediate pleasure came from seeing -- in an
article titled "Lace Making Fairs in Catalonia (Spain)" -- a photo of
Carolina de la Guardia Gallego at her witch-stitch lace. Nice to "meet"
you at long last, Carolina :)
For those who have not yet seen Carolina's new designs in old "witch
stitch lace", here's her second book, with links to the first and other
goodies:
