Got back home late sunday night after a wonderful weekend of tatting in Hector NY! There was so much to see and do there. Lots of classes, with great teachers such as Mark Myers, Georgia Seitz, Ruth Perry, Karey Solomon and many others. I wanted to take all the classes, but of course that was not possible.
My morning class was Rita Cochrane's Thistle pin, it's done in Altin Basak polyester thread, with beads as well. Came out very nice, even with a little design variation added. <G> The afternoon class was Mark Myers Flower Motif, using the split ring ground. It's very cool! I did a practice center in size 50, this also has a couple design variations. Now I'm working on another one, this time in size 80. No design variations yet. I'd like this one to come out like the pattern! Sunday morning I took Sherry Townsend's Dragon class. This one will take more work, and I'll keep at it, as it's another great design. It will be a 3D dragon that can stand on it's own! Karey Solomon taught my afternoon class, the tatted Chatelaine. Three of the elements are tatted, with 2 to go. A great way to keep my most used tools organized! The other teachers brought extra patterns for those that didn't get in their classes. That gives me several more projects to work on in my spare time <VBG>. Ruth Perry's tatted boa is great, there are some yarns in my stash asking to be made into this one. It was great to meet Debbie Arnold, of DS9 designs. What a nice lady, with great patterns and stuff! There were several other vendors present, I celebrated tatting day by giving them my $ in return for some great tatting supplies and kits. It was so much fun to see old friends and make new ones. The only sad part about this trip was that my mom didn't come this year. We've gone together to this for many years now.
