Do I understand then, that the lace belongs to private individuals unassociated with the museum, not the Bowes family? The 1908 article in an American newspaper may be about the acquisition of the collection by the Metropolitan Museum. It was in 1908 that a group of lace lovers and museum supporters raised $10,000 to buy the collection for the museum. I would really appreciate it if someone were to keep me informed about the visit.
