It is a spanish "mundillo", a pillow based on the
french pillows, not used by professional lacemakers,
but by ladies who made lace for their dowry or the
church.

 Original retail $350.00

Somebody's strange idea of decorating? The very top
is a pincushion, lace is made on the roller (here,
there is not even a pricking underneath) and the
bobbins are supported by the padded square underneath.

There are several different types of mundillos - in
this one, the finished lace falls into the box, some
have drawers in the back for the lace and a drawer in
front for extra thread, pins, bobbins etc. This one is
very simple compared to most, and most probably
homemade.

Greetings from sunny Spain - please send rain - Eva
