As others have written, best to have your cash currency in $'s Cdn.,
one way or another, and of course use the credit card where accepted
for the exchange of the date in use.
However at our little table in the vendor room, whereas we do not take
credit cards, the Canadian Lacemaker Gazette will cheerfully accept US
or Canadian currency, and personal bank cheques (or checks).
In fact, if you are renewing or taking a new subscription while at
convention, if your address is in the USA, then US $ are preferable as
we have a US rate. For the small difference in the exchange, and for
the only several other items besides subscriptions that we will have
on our table, the $ will be taken at par.
So, please don't leave all your American $ at home ;)

I would like to know if US $ are OK or do you have to have CAN $
