Wouldn't it be possible to learn the date of the festival before chosing the date of the Lace Day? I'd think, the Lace Day being a smaller event, the prep work is less and the date easier to shift. If the Guild keeps refusing to participate, the organisers of the festival will eventually stop asking, which would be a pity.
I believe that, in the past, the OIDFA Congress and the IOLI Convention used to clash regarding their schedules. But not so the last two or three times, which I believe is due to better communication between the organisers of the two events. Now, it's only the question of money that prevents people from attending both :)
