Gentle Spiders,

As of about a week ago, I've been a proud possessor of a Christmas/Year End gift to myself -- a laser colour printer/copier/scanner which aknowledges the existence of Apple puters without tying itself into a pretzel. I've been playing around with it some (between the kitchen duties, the pillow and the problems -- now fully resolved -- with the catalogue) and, keeping fingers crossed and knocking on wood, am totally "with angels" (you will *not* catch me trying to write that in the original French <g>) as far as it's concerned. (Next step is to find someone to dispose of the hateful ink-jet MFC for me, since I'm told I should not just kick it to the curb for trash pickup).

Today, just before I let "my little boy" (edging on 30) fly off back to San Francisco, I got him to help me with some things I couldn't figure out for myself. I think (and hope <g>) I'm all "set up for business" now. He even showed me how to *create* pdf files (something Bev Walker recommended as worth learning) -- on the new! improved! Adobe 7, which he, somehow, made to appear and obey with a few keystrokes and mouse clicks (*quite* a difference between it and my old Adobe 5!).

So, here I am, with all this baby-tender "knowledge", which I need to solidify into "skills" before it all leaks through the rusted-out sieve of my well-aged memory (like the instructions on uploading to the website had)... So I thought of a "plan" -- I'll use y'all as my guinea pigs :)

In my signature, there's a URL; it's for my website (admittedly, a very sketchy, old, no frills one. And it's not going to get updated before next Christmas -- and Danek's next visit -- since I no longer remember anything about adding to/removing from it). On the website, there are photos of lace I designed in the past (missing all the new stuff, designed since '03, but it can't be helped). Click on the "thumbnail" photo of the lace and you get a larger one, with a comment which tells you if the pattern had been published. Those patterns which *had* been published, are likely to have prickings and (sometimes) diagrams mouldering somewhere; they'd have been on the website long ago, if I had been able to make the scanner part of the MFC communicate with my Mac. Now, I can communicate but can't upload (pox on technology and the aging brain-cells)... But, if you find a -- published -- pattern you like (but don't have), write me and I'll try to e-mail you the -- ta da! scanned! -- pricking and the diagram/s as well as the verbal instructions. Hopefully, that will help me fix the procedures in my defective mind before they flee...

Yours,
--
