There's Hollie Point needlelace as well as the various laces mentioned. Still not much bobbin lace but, as has been said, if the local skills were with the needle(s) - lace knitting, fine embroidery - why would they bother to take up a completely different craft (particularly one that needed more and completely different equipment)?
