I have to confess it's one of my own that I designed in despair! I'd started
one of the Biggins ones but, although it was going to look brilliant, it was
taking too long. So I changed to simpler, narrower and thicker threads!

This
one is madeira 30 and equivalents.

Jenny (and interested others) if you'd
like the pricking I can e-mail it as JPEG, please let me know.

The fans were
worked with 2 permanent passives - gold on the outside and the blue next.
I
twisted the blue weaver an extra time at the outside edge to keep the
non-weaving blue thread at the edge

Subject: [lace] Val Dewar garter
Hello Val

Can you tell me where you got the pattern for the garter you have
on
the Arachne2003 webshot site? I love the way you got the blue worker
in
the half stitch fan to give the whole garter a hint of blue
without
overpowering the whole thing. It is very well done and I will
be trying out
those 'spiders' in the near future as they are quite effective.
