I asked similar questions to my friend, who is a friend of the artist
and this is what she wrote: "I do know that she's been visiting
curators of lace around England (V&A, Costume Museum in Bath, Bowes
Museum, Topsham Museum in Exeter) and has been allowed to draw from
their collections. " The artist is not home at the moment, but when she
is, my friend is going ask her to email me and I'll see what I can find
out. If she really does draw each thread, line by line, I think it
would be faster to make the lace! I wonder why she does it?

Very interesting concept, and thought provoking. I wonder if the artist
is a lacemaker too. Does she copy existing lace as woven textile, or as
an image. Does she put a pin in the original to mark her place, if
having to leave the work for awhile. The artist has excellent drafting
skills.
Thanks for sharing the site, Margot.
