I use the fingers to nose measurement for a yard - and fingers to nose
turned away for the metric measurement.
Turning my head away seems to give me approximately the extra 3inches!!
It is a rough measurement, but a good general standby when out and about
where there is no handy measuring tape!! :)
I, too remember the puncetto that Helen was mentioning. We had fun with
that piece - trying to guess exactly what it was!! It was the first time I
had seen any.
It was a Great excuse for me to do the Research - and sit and browse through
all the books in the RMLG library - supposedly looking for something similar
to the sample Helen had to hand!!!!!!!!
Luckily, Devon was at the other end of Email to give us the correct type of
lace. Many thanks Devon!
Then, of course, I had to go back through all these lovely books (like the
Levey "Lace - A History" ) looking for Puncetto work!!! --- Well, that was
my excuse, anyway!!!!!!!!! :))
