I know this is off topic, but I'm hoping that the person that asked is
still on Arachne!

Several years ago, it might have been around the time of Nottingham 1998
or OIDFA Nottingham, or somewhere in between, I was demonstrating lace
at, I think, the NEC for one of the craft or stitching shows on The Lace
Guild's stand, and somebody from the US who I knew from Arachne - it
might have been Janice or Sue Babbs??? came to the show. That person
asked me if, when visiting my husband's parents in Nottingham, I could
find and send them a Nottingham Fridge Magnet as when they had been
there for either of the two above events, they had looked and not found
one.

Today, Phil and I were in the Tourist Information Centre in Nottingham
(trying to find the location of a certain shop) and I spotted some
fridge magnets, bought one, and now cannot find the notepad I wrote down
the name and address of the person who wanted it! (I think I know the
notebook it is in, and have seen it recently, but where in this house
remains a mystery!).

So, if the person concerned is still on Arachne, can you get in touch
please?

We didn't get to the castle this time, it was a case of meeting up with
a friend to discuss the wreath I want her to make for my mother's
funeral, and then to go and visit my parents in law.

I did take some lace to Nottingham, though - after what must be two
years, I have finally finished my scalloped version of the Bucks Hearts
and Flowers Snowflake, and took it for that friend (also a lacemaker)
and Phil's parents to see. The pattern has gone to Deborah to see if she
wants to use it in a future issue of Lace (which is where the original
was published several years ago). This is the snowflake which has taught
me that it is possible to surround three interlocking rings with one
very loopy pair of gimps, I only had one gimp thread break on me, and
one of the rings got forgotten altogether when I was marking up the
pattern so is missed out on my mat (whoops!). Don't ask me to diagram
the process for doing three rings like that though, I had to stop and
think about it each time! Now to wait and finish off the film in my
camera to see if the photos I've taken of it come out OK! If the mat is
published (it will likely be next year), could I ask that anyone who
makes it makes a donation to a cancer charity (Macmillan Nurses in the
UK) in memory of Mom - the mat is called Marguerite, which was one of
her Christian names.
