Tess, I know that I send all spiders hope that all will be well, after watching the news of the fires I just sat there thinking what do you do in that situation, how do you make up your mind what to take and what to leave when you evacuate,
Hi Sue We lost our house in bushfires here in Australia nearly 5 years ago so our thoughts have been with the many people that have lost their homes in the fires in the US. We were away when the fires came through Canberra but our eldest son who was 17 was at home on his own - and though we wish we had been here to try to defend our home and to collect things to take with us - the most important thing was our son and that he was OK and that he safely went to his grandparents place away from the fires. The one thing that still really upsets me about the fires was that the local government 'didn't want to panic people' so they didn't warn us that the fires were expected to be on the edge of the city by the end of the day and our son had to face it on his own!! BUT people were fantastic - I think of all the Arachne members everytime I do my lace and the beautiful bobbins, threads, books, equipment... that you sent to me after our fires. It is people that count and things can be replaced or remade - even things with memories attached - but do keep a copy of important things like documents, photos, computer backups off site!! And keep an eye on your house and contents insurance!!
