Postage costs can be frightening! I had (have ?) a Honiton pillow stand
for sale, a lovely piece of work, and an acquaintance in Portugal was
interested. But - we took it to the Post Office here, and it was going to
cost £33.84. Better Half thought it may well be cheaper by one of the
delivery services, so we rang several - and the costs were even more
frightening from all of those! They ranged from about £35.00 plus VAT
(at 17.5%) to just over £100.00 - also plus VAT! Needless to say, friend
in Portugal is still suffering from shock, and lying down in darkened rooms!
I think part of the trouble with the stand was its size, as well as the
weight - it folded up - a bit like a deck-chair - but the overall
dimensions, which is what the PO base some of the calculation on, just
strayed into a higher category.
So - I still have the pillow stand in my garage ...
