That was my first thought however the library where the group meets will not allow any "messy" projects. The library's definition includes anything using glue, paint or glitter. This is a result of a homeschooling group who used the meeting rooms for an art class and trashed it. The room was out of service for a couple of weeks while the carpets were replaced and the walls were re-painted.
Thank you so much to Theo who was able to assist me with getting bobbins for the girls to use. They will be making their own pillows at the first lesson (foam covered with fabric) One of the leaders works for a major chain of home improvement stores and was able to get the foam for them. Each girl is going to bring the fabric for her pillow (I am bringing spare fabric just in case). This really is going to be a fun project! I love teaching kids and it is really neat that the GIRLS were the ones who wanted me to come teach after seeing me at a local fair and sitting down at my pillow to give it a try.
