Gentle Spiders, I thought some lacemakers might find these useful: I saw "photo" coasters that could be used to display lace on sale--box of 4 for $2.47 USD--at a local (Seattle area) Kinkos. They're on a clearance rack, and might be sold at other stores in the chain.
They're heavy glass, 3.75 inch by 4.25 inch, with a metal backing making a "pocket" for the photo (or lace). They have 4 clear plastic non-skid feet. The glass is black on the back except for the photo/lace opening, which is 2 5/16 by 1 7/8 inches. The metal backing shows through, so the lace could be placed directly on that for a silvery-backed effect, or a piece of cloth or paper could be behind the lace. 60ish cents a coaster seems like a good deal to me! I'm thinking holiday presents for next year...
