How many yards were used to make a ruff?
I have a feeling I saw it somewhere in a book, but I can't find the
reference. It may have been a library book, from ages ago.
I am interested to know how many yards would have been required to edge a
ruff - the large millwheel ruffs I mean.
I know someone has put up on a website about making a ruff from the
wire-edged ribbon, and suggests 2 yards/metres is enough, but I am sure the
Elizabethan ruffs had Much more than that.
