This falls into the "guffaw" category of lacemaking!!
Here's a book on ebay. Or... I should say two books. When all is
said and done, they are a book by the Kliots, and an older book which
I have seen (and formerly owned?) but can't remember...
It's Dover edition of Federico Vinciolo's pattern book, which I do own
but have never found useful.
The very interesting thing to me is that anyone would post any book
for sale and neglect to give the title of the book or the author...
and this happens all the time on ebay with lace books!!! But in this
case, the seller has failed us twice!!
But s/he has done it with lots of bold and capital letters and in two
colours! I could hardly read the description; how do all of you (who
visit E-bay on a regular basis) manage to put up with this kind of
tabloid c**p?
BUT... the best is yet to come!! These books are listed under the
category of "Science and Medicine"
Well... Look at it this way: lacemaking is (almost) "rocket science";
not for nothing it's called "the Mensa of crafts" :) And it's also
"good medicine"; an hour (of lacemaking) a day keeps the shrink away
(at a lot cheaper it is, too) :)
Actually... I have never seen the Kliot book before but one of the
photos had a 3-plait crossing, which is also new to me and totally
yummy at the same time, and which I have now filched. So, thanks for
directing me to the site; the trip was worth more than just a giggle.
