I agree with Tamara about lacemaking being (almost) "rocket science".
Lacemaking delves into the mathmatical sciences sometimes and I think could
really confuse some of the professors I know if they looked at the
graphs/diagrams.  Sometimes they try to over analyse what could really be a
simple task.  I think lacemaking is fairly simple.  But I have a different
mindset then my professor friends. ;)

I have this Kliot book that is listed.  I was floored when my folks gave it
to me as a Christmas present this past year.  They find the neatest stuff on
their travels.  They always are on the lookout at flea markets and thrift
shops for things that interest my hobbies.  This book was fun to thumb
through.  Not sure I would use it for anything.  But nice to have it in my
library.
