Is Tonder related to Bucks in any way?  My untrained eye seems to see a
similarity.


You got it!  Bucks (England) and Tonder (Denmark) are both in the point ground 
family.  Point ground is CTTT pin (don't close the pin).  Other point ground 
laces are Chantilly (France), Lille (Germany), Blonde (France), Ret-fi (Spain, 
actually Catalunya).  There are other point ground laces in other countries.

They all share other characteristics, but each has distinctive details.  Still, 
it's not too hard to work any pattern using the detailed techniques of any of 
the other countries' versions.
