I agree with you that Torchon is brilliant to demystify lace making. I am
working in Finca 40 lemon thread on a 1/10 inch diagonal grid, using a
wonderful pricking provide by Jo Edkins at
http://gwydir.demon.co.uk/jo/lace/zigzag.htm that shows half stitch, cloth
stitch, spiders, torchon ground, footside and fishtail fans. It is narrow
enough with just 22 pairs to get an inch or more an hour done while talking
!!! lol

Because each element is only a few bobbins wide it is easy to skip from one
stitch (half stitch trail) to another (cloth stitch) etc so I can verbalise
about the 'I just use 4 bobbins at a time with just 2 stitches.... cross,
twist, cross, twist - see that 'weaves' the two threads on the right through
the ones on the left...... the width of the lace decides how many bobbins I
need.... add a twist to go around the pin .... etc.

I LOVE DEMONSTATING and thank Jo Edkins for the pattern that is PERFECT for
what I do.
