It's a bobbin, inside a bobbin, inside a bobbin. Mine is a wooden bobbin with a long chamber. Inside the chamber is a smaller bobbin in light wood which also has a chamber, and inside that is a tiny black wooden bobbin.
I have three mother and twins. All are black wood with chambers one above the other. A pair of square bobbins with a light wood bobbin in each chamber. The other is round with a brass bobbin in each chamber.
The mother and triplets has three chambers each with a darker wooden bobbin inside.
And I forgot I also have a mother and quads bobbin. Bone with four chambers divided by a red band around the bobbin. Red and blue dots on the uprights of each chamber, and a small bone bobbin inside each chamber.
