I have a few mothers and babies. Three glass ones from the English chap
someone mentioned yesterday...he's a lovely person to deal with. And I also
have two wooden ones which I love, but they have not been carved from one
piece of wood as they were originally done. A glued joint shows where the
top part of the bobbin must have been attached to the lower part after the
babe was inserted. I always thought that if you opened a bobbin and it had
another inside it was called a Jack in the Box. I love the idea of the
grandmother and I guess I should look around for one to add to my collection
some day.

It's a bobbin, inside a bobbin, inside a bobbin. Mine is a wooden bobbin
with a long chamber. Inside the chamber is a smaller bobbin in light wood
which also has a chamber, and inside that is a tiny black wooden bobbin.

I have three mother and twins. All are black wood with chambers one above
the other. A pair of square bobbins with a light wood bobbin in each
chamber. The other is round with a brass bobbin in each chamber.

The mother and triplets has three chambers each with a darker wooden bobbin
inside.

And I forgot I also have a mother and quads bobbin. Bone with four chambers
divided by a red band around the bobbin. Red and blue dots on the uprights
of each chamber, and a small bone bobbin inside each chamber.
