Hi everone - this is Angela de-lurking at long last. First I would like to thank Jeri Ames for her review of my book on May 10th. Yes, I know there is very little of lace in it as there was not much to find in this area, but all textiles are linked and lace-makers have more common interests than those who do not use their hands. As it takes two years to write a book, you can understand that I had a very limited time for other things. However, I diligently downloaded the Arachne digests every few days and kept up with all your news and interests.
I have just returned from a tour of Croatia with my friend Pauline Milnes, a good traveling companion who accompanied me all round Cambodia and Vietnam when researching for my book. We were doing our 'own thing' in Croatia, a newly popular Balkan country, once part of former Yugoslavia, having booked hotels but travelling on our own on local buses. We were of course looking for lace and embroidery and had many adventures in the process. So over the next few days or so, I am going to write for you 'A Lace Safari in Croatia' and hope you will find it entertaining. Angela -- I am using the free version of SPAMfighter for private users.
