I have only now and then read the Arachne messages lately and just now saw the mention of my evacuation during the severe flooding in Cedar Falls. There never was any real expectation of the water coming this high but it is a retirement community and there was real fear that we would lose power. We are very near the Cedar Falls Utilities plant and hundreds of people worked 24/7 sandbagging just a block from where I sit now. CFU is quite a lot lower than this facility and they had water halfway up the windows on the lower floor in their office building. My son and his wife happened to be here and they took me to my granddaughters house which is far away from any threatening floods and I had a beautiful change of scene for a while - just 2 days as it turned out. We thought Cedar Falls had a bad flood experience but Cedar Rapids is so much worse!! We can only imagine what they must be going thru as they try to clean up and go on with their lives. Thank you all for your concern. As it happened we did not even lose power here at Willowwood.
