While looking for information about lace conservators, I came across this on a lace web site, and thought I would share it:
Bobbin lace is more common [than needlelace] and was used in linens and lingerie. It is made on a pillow by twisting many threads around pins. This is called bobbing, thus the name bobbin lace.
