Several people have seen me making lace and have admired it, but the usual comment is "I couldn't do that. I haven't got the patience." I don't know what the answer is. This is my answer: "You learn patience when you learn lace!" And to those insulting members of the public who watch me demonstrating, thinking that I can't hear and who say, " Oh, how tedious!" I reply, "Tedious means boring, and making lace is never that!" They just don't know what to say then.
