Hi there,

We have just been told that a lady wishes to donate a Plate to our Guild to
be competed for by our lacemakers at our exhibitions, which are usually held
every other year. We are only about seven of us making lace, so there won't
be a huge number of entries but there are likely to be several different
types of lace as we don't have classes. The lace is likely to be judged by
the people who judge the embroidery section of the exhibition and aren't
lacemakers. We were talking about this the other day and we found it hard
to decide what the judges should be looking for, bearing in mind that they
are quite likely to look at the entries and say they like 'that one' best
because its pretty, but not necessarily the best made lace! So we felt we
needed to set up some guidelines to help the judges. They need to be simple
and not to lengthy so thought a posting to Arachne would bring some good
ideas into us.

Please help us with your ideas!!
