When Bridget Cook taught Russian lace in Pittsburgh, we learned to take the center two over the outer two gimp threads. We called it the "bra stitch" (lift and separate, which old enough Americans will recognize as the Playtex Living Bra slogan). Because of our name, it's impossible to get that wrong! Robin P.
