Hello Dona, and everyone - Happy New Year Some choices - the nearest linen equivalent that might still be available is 140/2. Or - make the lace in the cotton, and depending on how it is used in the garment, the lace could be removable for laundering the garment, or not ;)
Another option, enlarge the lace pattern to accommodate an available fine linen thread. A different approach, use the lovely linen yardage for something else, and find nice cotton yardage for the gown, to use the cotton 80/2 and the pattern as is. For the gimp question, although I don't know this pattern, being that you are making lengths of it, I would take the path of least resistance and have the gimps continuous. Just some ideas.
