I am not familiar with the novel in question, but I think that if Santina Levey and other lace scholars who study the topic full time cannot pin point the moment when bobbin lace emerged from other techniques it would be extremely unlikely that a novelist would know more than they do. Novelists have to concern themselves with plot development, grammar, consistency of characters and the state of the publishing market. I can't imagine that they are in a position to extensively research a topic that is so tangential to their novel. Also, if written by a man, he probably doesn't spend much time thinking that there might have been an era before lace existed. Many people seem to believe that lace has always existed and looked pretty much the same throughout time. Devon **************A Good Credit Score is 700 or Above. See yours in just 2 easy steps!
