Tamara, Majordomo is getting creaky in its old age. It still works but isn't nearly as user-friendly as the newer list software, so I spend most of my list activity unsnarling people's subscription tangles (friends who can't subscribe, email addresses that have changed slightly and can't be unsubscribed, messages that bounce, messages that don't appear in the archives, etc.).
I joined when my son was about 6 months old. I am very bad at dates but I remember the year because I made my first lace pillow by stuffing a discarded PJ sleeve (my husband's) with wool to make a roller and setting it in a cake pan filled with clean diapers as the 'apron.' I covered the whole thing thing with a cover cloth. It worked but, boy, was I happy when I eventually got my hands on a polyurethane foam pillow! So that means I've been on Arachne for about 15 years. That little boy is now almost 16, plays the electric guitar, volunteers for ambulance crew (he's taken a first aid course and his duties are mainly measuring blood pressure, pulse, and filling out forms when he's out on a call), and is in grade 10 at a boarding school in Jerusalem (he wanted it, not us!). Right now he has a short-term job during the Passover vacation, picking up trash at the zoo.
