Broadcloth is close to medium to heavy shirting fabric, or better quality quilt
cottons. Perhaps similar to sheeting (for bedding) but not quite as fine a
count, though quality in any of these can vary a lot. The lines have blurred
over time along with lack of yard goods in the US overall, just as yarn
descriptions have blurred also.
Many of the bobbin pillows sold here are covered with "Trigger" which is a
trade name for a finer poplin (which one could perhaps describe as a very fine
grade of "duck"). Trigger has had polyester content since at least the 60's,
and so I am curious that many of the references are to Trigger being all
cotton, but there could be a niche that I am not aware of specialized for the
industry.
I used a fine violet colored twill on a pillow that actually had a very small
percentage of spandex in it that I like to far. I am able to get it very tight
over my sawdust and wool, but I may change my mind as tine goes on as I note
that having some in fabric for slacks for instance, it tends to make me itch.
Bringing that up in case someone in sensitive to things like that, such as
pantyhose, as hands/forearms may touch it.

I am curious about the Ethafoam, as I have a physical therapy roller that I am
certain is of this, and would make a neat roller. I look at it tempted to cut
off a section, but note that I need it for PT, and was wondering about
suggested diameter for thickness as this one is perhaps at least 6”.
Having a 12 yo. I still have pool noodles at my house, and note that the
quality varies astonishingly. Not to negate what has been shared, but we have
a couple that have lasted twelve years, and others that don't seem to make it
much past a season or two, so perhaps that is a factor?
Best,
Susan Reishus
