Dear Susan,

What country are you writing about??

This is an international list, and I have privately written to you twice in
recent months to ask where you are writing from, so I (or we) could give
focused answers to your questions. A Yahoo address does not tell enough.

In America, some lacemakers sell what they make at Lace Days sponsored by
local lace guilds. Some sell at a special sales table set up at the
International Old Lacers, Inc. conventions; specifically for selling items
members wish to sell. A percentage is kept by the sponsoring organization.
Have
you tried consignment to a local boutique, specifically one that sells
jewelry and other handmade wearables?

There are large special craft shows, which sell in different cities, one or
more weekends a year. You can join the sponsoring organization and become
a vendor, or join up with another crafter if you do not have enough
merchandise.

Buyers for most commercial fashion outlets (stores) do not usually buy one
item at a time. Because of this, you have to be creative about how you
sell. You did not mention Ebay, another option.

Lace is not marketed the way it was done a century or more ago. Prices
would be prohibitive.

On that subject, since it just came up related to the recent article
stating
lace was the trend, where else would one sell it, (aside from Etsy that I
mentioned, which is for various creative media)?

What about International Lace Trading.nv and so forth. I assume they
don't
keystone things, as 100% would be a considerable amount when so much of it
is
the time and technique involved from the creator.

Some of you must have information on how much brokers in past centuries
profited. Of course they marketed it and helped subsidize the cottage
industry......

Best,
Susan Reishus
