Especially for Mark (Tatman), and those who'd like to view, Lacefairy has put up the picture of my pillow that fits in a travel case. (Don't think I ever sent this to you.)
_http://lace.lacefairy.com_ (http://lace.lacefairy.com) In Gallery column select 3rd from last "Lace Pillows" option; then "Roller" on next menu. The grape-colored pillow (3rd picture) fits in a travel case like those Mark mentioned (below). It has a roller, and a brass rack at the back straight part of "D" which holds an upholstered bar piece on which finished lace can be wound. Rack disassembles so pillow fits inside closed carrying case. There is a small white bag to put the rack pieces in. A corsage pin fits into a small decorative brass hinge permanently attached behind/below roller - to be a brake for roller! You can see pin in picture. There are 4 1" diameter non-slip feet under the pillow which raise the base up enough for a small thin paddle shape (also upholstered) that swings out from underneath Right side (not pictured). Paddle shape has velcro attached to the top side of the grape fabric. The pin cushion sits on this (at table level) and has the opposite side of velcro to keep it sturdy. . Diameter Dimensions: Top/bottom: 10 1/2" East/west: 12" This is a very sturdy travel pillow in a waterproof hard-case piece of luggage. Case was bought in a second-hand shop. Made by a lacemaker-engineer, now retired. I'd never check this at airport. Jeri Ames in Maine USA Lace and Embroidery Resource Center In a message dated 5/11/2009 3:40:01 P.M. It was almost a complete circle but had a flat bottom where the hinge was. They were about approximately 12 inches tall and rounded top where the handle was and they easily set down on the flat hinged part. My mom used to have one of these and I have seen them at tag sales or flea markets. Could be a solution to a travel bag for the D shaped pillows. ;) -- Mark, aka Tatman blog: http://tatmantats.wordpress.com/ email: [email protected] - To unsubscribe send email to [email protected] containing the line: unsubscribe lace [email protected].
