... When I wind bobbins, I lay the first layer (only) tightly side by side down the thread area to give a solid base to the windings. All the rest of the layers are at an angle, up, down, up, down, etc.
If you have had any trouble losing your hitches into the thread, give this winding method a try. Alice in Oregon ================================================= Hi Alice, I have never heard of that method (and it's always good to know another one!). I did learn a slightly different one: Like Alice, I wind the first layer side by side. Then I bring the thread straight back from where it ends back to the beginning, wind another layer and then straight back again. This leaves some threads in line with the head of the bobbin and protects against the digging in. I do have to laugh, though! For the first class I ever took, I wound my bobbins fanatically even, like a spool of store bought thread. Unfortunately I wound them in the wrong direction and couldn't keep them on my pillow! Had to rewind the whole lot! LOL! Patty - To unsubscribe send email to [email protected] containing the line: unsubscribe lace [email protected]. For help, write to [email protected]
