Several times in the past, I've reviewed and listed all the Turkish oya (lace) books in my library. To them, "oya" is like the word "lace". It covers a number of techniques. In my modern Turkish lace books "Oya" refers to the delicate knotted lace, but also crochet and tatting. Jeri Ames Lace and Embroidery Resource Center

Yes, I noticed the crochet ones. I didn't see them the first time because I didn't look closely at the enlargements. A few years ago, PieceWork magazine had an article on needlelace oya, but the accompanying photo showed mostly crocheted and tatted oya! The fourth page has some lovely individual flowers worked into pins and earrings. Many/most of the pieces showing single, or a couple of, large flowers are knotted needlelace. There were several of the long strands of flowers that are also knotted needlelace, but many/most of the long strands are actually crochet. The crochet flowers are thicker and you can see the "chain stitch" appearance along the edges of the petals. > > Robin P. > Los Angeles, California, USA > [email protected] - To unsubscribe send email to [email protected] containing the line: unsubscribe lace [email protected].
