Those of you who have a copy of my book (now out of print) Needlelace Designs
and Techniques will see on the back cover, a bridal shoe with a Rosette on the
front. The book was first published in October 1993, so I must have made that
Rosette at least 2-3 years previously when one considers the time it takes for
the publishers to actually release it onto the market. That would make it
some 19 years ago that I sprayed the Rosette with 'Rolls Fabrifix' a roller
blind stiffener purchased here in the UK from House of Fraser and it is still
as stiff as the day I made it. I got the shoe out this morning to check. I
did buttonhole stitch some wire used for cake decorating when working the
cordonette on the outside edge, enabling me to 'mould' the Rosette into an
acceptable shape, then gave it two coats of the roller blind stiffener. The
can still has the price on the lid and was £5.95p but I don't know if one can
still purchase this product or not and if so, it's probably quite a bit more
expensive now.

I used DMC Machine Broder No 30 for the needlelace but of course it is
cream/ecru in colour, so I don't know whether it would discolour a white
thread or not but as you are making flowers, I guess they will be in colour,
so it shouldn't be a problem? The name of the company is Hallis Hudson,
Bushell Street, Preston. Tel:01772 202202 but of course there's no guarantee
that they are still there. Perhaps anyone in the UK could 'Google' them and
see. It's amazing that it's still as stiff after 19 years!
