I made a whole bouquet of flowers for the last exhibition we had here in Arad.
At the edge of the petals I used a pair of metal thread (very thin) and the results were perfect. I could bend the petals into every shape I wanted. They didn't go limp and I didn't need a stiffener. I used DMC stranded cotton (one thread) and if I didn't have the right colour I used cotton sewing thread. I know that fixative is being used in drawing especially if charcoal is used. I have used it once way back in my early lace days and my beautiful piece of lace turned yellowish. I have never used this method again. Since this was in the last century perhaps the new fixative sprays of the 21st century are better.
