Such sad news but a sign of the times I'm afraid and the same thing happened some years ago to the lace school on the island of Burano However, the good news is that there are so many excellent books/publications available by top class lace tutors, that I feel lace will never die. So whilst it is very sad, do try to look on the bright side and find yourselves a good tutor in your own country, who has been able to learn these beautiful laces at the Kantcentrum.
Perhaps when the financial situation improves for us all, lacemaking will once again become a popular/desirable leisure activity and after all, we are so fortunate to 'have had the best times'.
