I never had problems with shredding threads, I use Natural fiber only for I am allergic to anything chemical in fabrics. As for satin as a cover cloth, I had one wool cloth I put a satin band to cover the edges. And very soon I had the problem of very fine threads of the satin working themselves in my lace, and the band did not last long....
Another reason for thread breaking are the needles. When I work as for the moment duchesse in Egytian Cotton nr. 180, I have to put my needles very close and my thread get caught between the needles, wiggling them out too often makes them break. So I suppose the heads of my needles are a bit sharp for the fibers. Alix from Luxembourg. - To unsubscribe send email to [email protected] containing the line: unsubscribe lace [email protected].
