I have a friend who has several of these hair pieces that her grandmother
made.  They are quiet fine and amazing to look at.  I could ask her if I could
take a few pictures to post?  She has them under glass.  They are mostly
flowers, if I remember right.

When I was involved in my jewelry career and studying antique jewelry and
Hair
work pieces, most of the hair was from deceased person for memorial reasons,
but there was also a lot of work done with hair cut from living persons.
Remember in that era women had long lengths of hair available.  (no corner
beauty shops as we have today).
I had a rather long pony tail cut off at about age 15-16.  I was having sever
headaches and my parents and Dr. thought the weight of the hair might be part
of the cause.  (It wasn't, I was having stress & allergy related migraines).
I wish not that I had kept it for use in hair work.
Women also kept the hair that fell out naturally with combing and brushing.
I
remember my grandmother using this hair mat as padding when she wore her hair
'twisted up on top'.  It was perfectly natural hair loss, they just kept,
while we just toss it out.

  Hi Clay and everyone!

This may help you with the creepies. I have my DD pigtail & she is very
much
alive 13 yr old. Sep. 2007, I cut her hair as a discplinary action. All I
have
to say do you want me to cut your hair and she straightens right up. (BTW -
She could sit on her hair & I cut it to the nape of her neck.) Her hair is
now
past her shoulder blades.

  I hope this helps.

  Hugs,

  Susie Rose
