Just the other day I "found" a real hair hairpiece I had in the 1960s. It's
about 12 inches long and exactly matched my own brunette hair. I had it
pinned to the top of my head and the hairdresser produced a (then highly
fashionable) pile of curls on top of my head. Contrary to natural laws, my
hair has got darker as I've got older - not that I'd wear it now - and I was
about to throw it out. But now that hairwork has been mentioned, if I
unstitch the hair from its base, the strands should be about 24 inches long
so perhaps I'll keep it and one day I might get around to doing something
with it.
