In Sunday's "Express" there was a really good article about Florence Nightingale who was a British nurse in the Crimean war. Born in 1820 to rich parents she defied them and trained as a nurse and went to the Crimean. The picture of her showed her wearing rather a lot of lace some I recognise as Bedfordshire. I have put the picture in Arachne webshots so that you can have a look, as it is a newspaper cutting not as clear as I would like.
