Hiya Susan,
Yes, You are right....you just put your hook in the other hand and you
crochet in a different direction but when you are finished crocheting...it
looks
the same no matter if the item is crocheted left or right handed. There are
quirks to making the braid. That is what I am hung up on. I do know how to
crochet and have made many things crocheted. In making the braid I have seen it
written where you wrap the hook from under the hook and then in the next step I
see where it is wrapped over the hook. I have seen the instruction where it
doesn't tell you how to wrap the hook. I know that wrapping the hook is
important because you need to pull the thread both ways to make your braid to
fit the pattern. There are also different places to put the hook in the braid.
I
just thought it would be nice if someone could do a lefted handed video of how
to make the braid. The diagrams in the books are confusing to me even when I
have scanned them as a mirrored image. I so wish Pat Pike was here.

   I will keep at it.
 Wind To Thy Wings,
Sherry

way can) . . ." Sherry

Isn't it just the opposite, so you place the hook in the left hand, and the
yarn comes from the ball on the right hand, then you work from left to right
(instead of right to left), pulling up loops (and wrapping if necessary)?

If it helps, use a mirror to reverse it visually.

If you go to YouTube.com and enter "how to crochet left handed" you get hits:
